Choba is a popular area in Port Harcourt, likely due to its proximity to the University of Port Harcourt.
If you find yourself in Choba and are looking for a great place to eat, this article is for you.
1. Marketsquare
Marketsquare is a supermarket offering a wide variety of items, including a dedicated food section.
The food and snacks at Marketsquare are very affordable compared to Sammies and Kilimanjaro.
They offer soups like egusi, okra, and Utazi, which can be purchased separately from the accompanying staple (swallow). Additionally, they serve dishes such as jollof rice, fried rice, spaghetti, noodles (indomie), beans, and proteins like chicken, turkey, beef, and eggs.
What I like about this place is its well-organized layout, the quality of the food—especially the spaghetti and jollof rice—and the ample parking space outside.
However, the downside is that the staff are not very welcoming.
2. Everyday
Just like Marketsquare, Everyday is another supermarket in Choba with a restaurant, located directly opposite Marketsquare along the popular East-West Road.
The restaurant at Everyday supermarket offers very affordable food and has a welcoming staff.
The downside is that they do not offer as many food varieties as Marketsquare.
Some of the foods you will find here include jollof rice and fried rice.
3. Sammies
Sammies is another restaurant in Choba known for its good food, but the prices are quite high.
What I enjoy most are their Caribbean rice and spaghetti.
They have a small parking space, but the indoor setting is lovely.
4. Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is another restaurant in Choba with good food, but what I like most are their snacks, especially the meat pies. The building features an open glass view, allowing you to see inside the restaurant from the outside.
It has a small parking space and nice indoor settings.
5. Genesis
Genesis has a large parking space. Their food tastes good, but it’s too oily for my liking, although many people don’t mind this.
Their snacks are also quite tasty.
So, in conclusion, these are the five popular restaurants in Choba, Port Harcourt. Among them, I would rate the food at Market Square the highest.
